Get your bib ready, all you District foodies: D.C. restaurant week is on its way. From Aug. 17 through Aug. 23, you're going to have the choice of more than 250 participating restaurants offering discount dining options in the nation's capital as well as in Virginia and Maryland. If that figure doesn't sound high, consider that New York's restaurant week had only 100 more this year.

From Afghan kabobs to Greek mezes to French bistro fare, the Restaurant Association of Washington's restaurant week has you covered. During restaurant week, you can typically expect to pay $22 for lunch and $35 for dinner at participating establishments. That will likely include three courses, including an appetizer, an entrée and a dessert.

If you're interested in finding a special restaurant in your neighborhood, or any neighborhood, you can take a look at the restaurant week home page, which will also let you search by cuisine, by the times restaurants are open, and by the first letter of restaurant names. Or you could always just browse!

If you're looking for something in the District, DCist has put together a list of enviable dining options for the week. The folks at the news and culture blog are fans of Belga Cafe (514 8th St. SE), Casa Luca (1099 New York Ave. NW), Fogo de Chao (1101 Pennsylvania Ave. NW) and Kapnos (2201 14th St. NW), among others.

If you're looking in Maryland, Bethesda Magazine has a few recommendations. In Bethesda itself, the magazine recommends Blacks Bar and Kitchen (7750 Woodmont Ave.), Crave (in the Westfield Montgomery Mall) and Daily Grill (One Bethesda Metro Center). If you're closer to Chevy Chase, consider Sushi Ko (5455 Wisconsin Ave.), Lia's (4435 Willard Ave.) or Capital Grille (5310 Western Ave.). And for those of you to the east in Silver Spring, All Set Restaurant and Bar (8630 Fenton Street) and Jackie's Restaurant and Sidebar (8081 Georgia Ave.) are recommended.

A handful of restaurants participating in restaurant week will extend their participation until Aug. 30. You can find those extended deals here.
