Norwegian boxing champion Cecilia Braekhus got surprised by a kiss from Swedish opponent Mikaela Laurén during Monday’s face-off in Norway before their upcoming fight Saturday, websites like Norway's NRK.no and TMZ reported.

Even though the political relationship is arguably good between the neighboring countries, champ Braekhus was not pleased with Laurén's smooch. She responded by slapping her opponent's cheek.

Saturday will be the second time the Scandinavian fighters meet in the ring. The last time was in 2010, Braekhus won on a technical knockout.

“I’ve never been better. And I am here to knock Cecilia out, if not I wouldn’t have come,” Laurén said before deciding to lock lips with her opponent, according to NRK.

It didn’t take Braekhus long to get her composure back after the initial shock — and slap — as she burst in to laugher shortly after.

“I haven’t got that in a while. It was very surprising,” she said to the surprisingly affectionate attempt by the Swede, which was apparently to “knock her off her game” before Saturday.

“That’s all the love she’ll get from me. We’re not that good of friends, so that’s the biggest declaration of love she’ll receive from me,” Laurén said shortly after the kiss.
