Dumbo Kitchen, an eatery based in Brooklyn, New York, fired one of their employees after she had a "racist" and rude altercation with a customer.

The video of the ranting employee was posted on Instagram by customer Jypsy Jeyfree, where it garnered massive and supportive reactions.

Jeyfree posted the video with a long caption, which detailed how the encounter went down.

“As we awaited my partner return I was approached by this woman who felt the need to tell me the restaurant was closing in the most hateful, disrespectful and rude manner,” she wrote.

“True racism at its finest,” Jeyfree commented on the employee's rant.

In the video, Jeyfree is heard saying, “Your manager doesn’t like black people, honey.”

To which the employee replies, “Everybody knows that.”

The employee can be also seen opening the door and then rudely asking the customers to “get out.”

When the woman stepped out of the eatery and into the street, the employee tried to make Jeyfree stop the recording by hitting the phone with her hands.

She then slammed the door shut on Jeyfree's face.

Jeyfree in her caption also mentioned the fact that she spoke to the employee in a very respectable tone but got treated with utter contempt.

She also said that the employee referred to black people as “THEM,” which signified the racial nature of the whole incident.

She also called for the need of “women empowerment” and “sisterhood”.

The Instagram post got a massive 21.1k hits and over 500 comments.

The restaurant discharged both the employee in the video and the manager who was termed "racist" by her. The restaurant also tweeted, saying they won’t tolerate the “sick comments” by their former employee and that “hate and Racism will not prevail.”

Adam Ragib, the owner of Dumbo Kitchen, reportedly said that he was pondering filing civil claims against the fired employee, Daily News New York reported. He, however, said there was no truth to claim that the manager was racist. But it was not clear why the manager was fired.

He also added, “It came as an absolute shock. It’s something we don’t believe in for one second.”

The New York Police Department examined CCTV footage of the incident. However, no formal complaint has been lodged, said a police spokeswoman. According to the report, Jeyfree was not available for comment.

The report also said that Ragib will be organizing an event Friday where the management committee of the restaurant will be talking about community concerns involving customers.

Some Twitter folks had mixed reactions to the tweet posted by Dumbo Kitchen. Some were quite supportive.

While there were some who did not buy into their apology and also their swift actions in firing the employees.

One Twitter user named American Nubian tweeted and gave a very constructive reply to Dumbo Kitchen, saying, "Some people don't understand the difference between individual and individuals. I commend you on your quick response and effort to address this issue immediately. What would be great is if you hired a person of color to fill your vacant manager spot."
