Governors Ball 2013 already had a solid initial lineup with the announcement of Kanye West and Kings of Leon playing their first New York shows in several years. With the addition of Guns N’ Roses, Governors Ball now promises to be the most eclectic New York music festival.

Governors Ball 2013 takes place on Randall’s Island on June 7-9 and will include the previously announced headliners of Kanye West and Kings of Leon as well as the initial lineup which includes NAS, Pretty Lights, The Avett Brothers, Grizzly Bear, The xx, Cut Copy, Kendrick Lamar, The Lumineers, Young the Giant, Feist, Of Monsters and Men, Dirty Projectors, Gary Clark Jr., Alt-J, Japandroids and many more.

With Guns N’ Roses, Governors Ball has added a legendary act that will bridge the gap between younger and older festivalgoers. Guns N’ Roses has sold more than 100 million albums worldwide and had some of the biggest singles in the 1990s. Speaking about being added to the lineup, Axl Rose said, “We're all really excited in GNR to be part of this festival, and with such talented and diverse acts in what looks to be a great weekend!!”

More artists will be announced over the next few weeks. In its third year, Governors Ball has grown from a one-day festival in 2011 on Governors Island to a full blown three-day music festival in 2013. With the extra day and additional lineup, Founders Entertainment, the organizers, promises plenty of amenities, food and entertainment. The food offerings will include selections from Luke's Lobster, Cool Haus ice cream, Asia Dog, Ports Coffee & Tea, and Pie For the People, Brindle Room, Mexicue, Bare Burger, Little Muenster grilled cheese, Num Pang sandwich shop, Wooly's, and La Sonrisa empanadas.
