Anne Hathaway was almost out-shined by her veil when she married her fiancé Adam Shulman over the weekend on the scenic coast of Big Sur, Calif., according to celebrity media reports on Sunday.

The actress, 29, who is best known for appearing in roles like “The Devil Wears Prada,” “The Princess Diaries” and most recently “The Dark Knight Rises” married the jewelry designer, 31, on a private estate.

The couple had been together for four years and she told People last year about her relationship to Shulman, “I am very much in love with him, [only] Adam totally ruined my plan," the star said. "I was really actually looking forward to a little alone time, and then I fell in love like a fool!"

When on the subject of how her relationship with her fiancé was relatively normal she said, "We have house parties and dinner parties and just hang out," Hathaway said to USA Today. "I'm so delighted by [Adam]. He's all the things you want a partner to be. I so find joy in his presence."

But Hathaway let it be known that she wasn’t just anybody on her wedding day—the celebrity was dripped from head to toe in gauzy Valentino garb.

The actress opted for a traditional chapel length veil that has become all the rage. In addition to the long veil that finished at the hem of her dress, Hathaway was also donning 1920s inspired headpiece.

Her romantic off the shoulder dress that had a delicate lace trim was a vintage inspired dress personally designed for the bride by couture designer Valentino Garavani, People reported.

Valentino, the couture designer of her dress, explained to E! News that she was like his daughter:

"She's a very good friend of mine," he said. When asked if she were like family he responded, “Oh, yes … She's like my daughter!"

“The wedding was lovely and Anne looked gorgeous,” a source told People. “She looked very pretty.”

But not everyone was so taken by the actress' choice to go 1920s vintage.

“Her veil looks like a bandage ... should've just kept it simple. oh anne hathaway ... i miss your long hair,” @bbspazz tweeted.

“But What In The Hell Is That Thing On Her Head?” @ReelTalker asked of the starlet’s headpiece.

“Ok I love Anne Hathaway, and her wedding dress was gorgeous ... but I'm not digging the veil. It's her wedding though, so kudos to her!” @BriMastro wrote on Twitter.
