Westworld
HBO's successful sci-fi drama “Westworld” has been renewed for a second season. HBO

“Westworld” Season 1 delivered one shocking revelation after another. It turns out Bernard Lowe (Jeffrey Wright) is a host, and Dr. Robert Ford (Anthony Hopkins) ordered him to kill his former lover. Bernard is the host version of Ford’s former partner, Arnold. Dolores Abernathy (Evan Rachel Wood) is Wyatt. On top of all that, William (Jimmi Simpson) will grow up to become the Man in Black (Ed Harris).

The surprises are plentiful indeed, but Wright told The Hollywood Reporter that more twists and turns await fans next season. “The first season is creating order,” Wright said. “The second season is mayhem and chaos.”

There’s also talk that Season 2 will feature other worlds apart from the wild west.

For Luke Hemsworth, who plays Ashley Stubbs in the show, it would be exciting to pursue a plotline concerning samurais. “The samurai world is really attractive, I love that part of the idea,” said Hemsworth. “The first season was just an intro, a prequel. The world is going to obviously get a lot bigger somehow.”

Show creator Lisa Joy told the Los Angeles Times that the samurai world is actually something they have already considered. During the Season 1 finale, Maeve Millay (Thandie Newton) was seen clutching a piece of paper that contained the whereabouts of her daughter.

“Yeah, I think that there’s a little hint there that ‘Park 1’ might just be the beginning and we’ll continue to do this journey as we have, which is we’ll discover the mysteries of Westworld through the perspective of our characters, so when they found out, we’ll find out,” she said.

HBO is quite proud of the success of its new show, so it has been renewed for a second season. But co-creator Jonathan Nolan earlier announced that the show won’t be back for over a year since they have a lot of preparations to complete.

“Westworld” Season 2 will return to HBO on 2018.
