HBO’s sci-fi hit “Westworld” won’t be back until next year, and show creators Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy are currently busy shooting in Melody Ranch in Newhall, California to make sure that the show’s fans will get to see the continuation of their story.

Melody Ranch serves as the backdrop for the fictional corporation Delos, and Nolan said the amusement park has even been used for another HBO series, “Deadwood,” and Quentin Tarantino’s “Django Unchained.” He told The Independent that the crew is now busy “ripping the town apart” so they could piece the railway track in the series.

Nolan then revealed that “Westworld” is “a pastiche of different ideas” from several decades, but one notable movie that inspired the series is the 1968 Sergio Leone film, “Once Upon A Time in the West.”

The first season of “Westworld” was a huge hit because of its shocking twists and turns. But Evan Rachel Wood, who plays host Dolores Abernathy, told Entertainment Tonight that next season is actually “twice as ambitious as the first season.”

“I didn't think the show could shock me and it continues to do so,” she explained. “It’s going to be everything and more.”

In a separate interview with Forbes, Wood revealed that her character is going to appear different next season. Instead of the timid rancher’s daughter who allowed park guests to beat her up, fans are now going to see a gun-toting host who will shoot at people when necessary.

Some might think that Dolores has turned evil this coming Season 2, but Wood explained that her actions are just based on other people’s past treatment of her.

“Dolores is multifaceted; she’s obviously an artificial being but what the show explores is what consciousness even is,” Wood said. “The experiences she’s having are very real; the trauma is real; the pain is real. What’s to say her pain isn’t any different than ours?”

“She’s a survivor; she’s been abused for about 30 years ... she’s been knocked down so many times and she comes back even stronger,” Wood added.

“Westworld” Season 2 premieres on HBO in 2018.
