Katie Couric is headed for a trip down the aisle for the second time in her life. The 55-year-old former CBS anchor confirmed through her publicist that boyfriend John Molner popped the question on Labor Day, People reported.

Molner, 50, is the head of Mergers & Acquisitions at Brown Brothers Harriman, an investment bank and securities firm. The two have been dating for roughly two years, only publicly coming out as a couple at the Met gala in May.

The couple’s official debut came eight months after the Daily Mail outed them as a couple, amid a report from Molner’s ex-girlfriend, Jessica Hsu, that he had cheated on her with Couric. “Yes, John cheated on me. That's all I have to say,” Hsu told the National Enquirer at the time.

Couric’s late husband, Jay Monahan, died of colon cancer in 1998 at the age of 42. After his death, Couric used her celebrity to advocate for colonoscopies. In a 2011 interview with People, she admitted that she was dating and had hopes of getting married one day, but wasn’t preoccupied with finding a new husband.

“When the girls were really little, I always imagined I would be modern-day Carol Brady,” Couric told the magazine. “I used to worry a lot about the future. [But] who knows what it will bring? Hopefully it will bring good things.”

After their Met gala debut, Couric opened up about Molner to USA Today, saying, “We’re having a great time. He’s really funny and very successful in his own right. In a different line of work.”

“A little more age appropriate,” she added, referencing her previous five-year romance with entrepreneur Brooks Perlin. Perlin and Couric, who shared a 17-year age gap, reportedly split over a disagreement about their future that was exacerbated by the age difference, according to the Daily Mail.

Shortly after the relationship fizzled out, a source close to Couric told the New York Post that the pair had “decided to move on.” “Brooks is a great person and a real gentleman. He and Katie enjoyed their time together. But after five years they have decided it was time to go their separate ways,” the source said.

Of the six-year age gap with Molner, Couric says, “Hey, I’ve got a lot of energy, you know. I need someone who can keep up with me.”

Couric’s rep told People that Molner proposed to her on the beach in East Hampton, N.Y., over the weekend. Couric has two daughters, Ellie, 21, and Carrie, 17, from her previous marriage.
