Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s engagement photos have just been released, and they were taken by famed photographer, Alexi Lubomirski.

According to People, Lubormiski is from New York, but he spent most of his childhood in Botswana. Prince Harry and Markle also shared wonderful memories in Botswana, and it was even mentioned during their first sit-down interview as an engaged couple.

Botswana holds a special place in Prince Harry and Markle’s life so much so that he even purchased a diamond from the country, which was used as a centerpiece for her engagement ring.

Other than their shared history with Botswana, Lubomirski also has a royal blood like Prince Harry. The photographer is a prince of the Polish House of Lubomirski. His official title is His Serene Highness Prince Alexi.

Lubomirski started his career in photography in 2010 by working for Mario Testino, the photographer who shot Prince William and Kate Middleton’s engagement photos. But despite their links, Prince Harry and Markle did not know Lubomirski.

The trio only met on the week of their engagement announcement. A royal source told the publication that Prince Harry and Markle considered a handful of photographers, but were so impressed by Lubomirski’s works.

“It was an incredible honor to be asked to document this wonderful event, but also a great privilege to be invited to share and be a witness to this young couple’s love for one another. I cannot help but smile when I look at the photos that we took of them, such was their happiness together,” Lubomirski said in a statement.

Prince Harry and Markle’s engagement photos were taken at Frogmore House in Windsor. The couple was featured in a formal and informal photo that was released by the Kensington Palace this week. They also released a candid shot of the couple as their way to say thank you to their fans.

Meanwhile, Lubomirski has also worked with several A-list celebrities in the past. This included Charlize Theron, Beyoncé, Jennifer Lopez, Nicole Kidman, Katy Perry, Sarah Jessica Parker, Gwyneth Paltrow, Natalie Portman, Julia Roberts, Scarlett Johansson and Jennifer Aniston.
