Savannah Brinson is one lucky lady. Basketball superstar LeBron James proposed to Brinson, his longtime girlfriend, on New Year's Eve. He popped the question at a party celebrating both the holiday and his 27th birthday, which was on Friday, at Shelborne South Beach's SL Nightclub in Miami.

A representative for James confirmed the news to the Associated Press Sunday morning, just hours after friends tweeted their well-wishes.

CONGRATS are in order!! 2012 has already come in w/a BANG!! Congrats to @KingJames and @SavannahRB on their engagement!! We love u guys!!, Lala Vazquez, wife of Knicks forward Carmelo Anthony, tweeted.

Congrats to LeBron. @KingJames andSavannah so happy 4 u guys, Miami Heat owner Micky Arison tweeted Saturday night.

Brinson might have had a feeling something big was going to happen. She retweeted a post from friend and fellow basketball wife Adrienne Bosh, who is married to Miami Heat's Chris Bosh. RT @MrsAdrienneBosh: Very excited for tonight's festivities :) I got a feeling this is going to be a New Years to remember! @SavannahRB @itsgabrielleu @J9Howard read the tweet.

Who is Savannah Brinson? Brinson is James' high school sweetheart. They started dating while attending St. Vincent-St. Mary High School in Akron, Ohio.

The couple has two sons together, LeBron Jr., 7, and Bryce, 4.

The couple currently resides in the Coconut Grove section of Miami, where James plays for the Miami Heat. They live in a lavish three-story, $9 million mansion overlooking Biscayne Bay.

The pretty wife-to-be has been oft photographed courtside, sporting nothing but the most fashionable outfits. You will not see Brinson in sweats and jerseys. She and Bosh choose fitted black skirts, Celine bags and layered-on jewels instead.

She was most recently seen with Bosh and actress Gabrielle Union at the Heat versus Celtics game.

No wedding date has been revealed, but paparazzi will surely be clamoring for a photo of the ring.
