A Houston woman is in custody after confessing to murdering two of her children. Sheborah Thomas caused quite a shock while talking to her neighbor who was helping her move out of her home, according to the New York Daily. When asked where her children were, the 30-year-old woman told her neighbor that she drowned her son and daughter in the bathtub and placed their bodies under a nearby home.

Thomas admitted that she initially tried to bury the children in the backyard but failed and decided to place them under a neighbor’s home instead. Kese Smith, a Houston police spokesman revealed that the neighbor thought Thomas was joking about the murders so he continued to help her pack. However, once the neighbor realized that the woman was not simply having a laugh with him, he drove her to the nearest police department.

Thomas was charged with capital murder on Sunday after police found the bodies of her children under her neighbor’s home, just as she described. Spared from murder was her 12-year-old son, who was not at home at the time. CBS News reported that as of Monday Thomas was being held without bond and no attorney was listed on her behalf. Although authorities were awaiting autopsy reports, they are sure that Thomas acted alone in the crimes.

Thomas’ deceased children — son, Orayln, 7, and daughter, Kahana, 5 — were last seen Friday attending a school talent show. The children lived in the Houston home for only a few months. However, police have reportedly been called several times for “nothing major.” Although there have been no reports of Thomas having a history of mental illness, her home was previously visited by the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services.

This is not the first time a Houston mother has drowned her children. Back in 2001, Andrea Yates drowned her five children in the bathtub. She was found not guilty by reason of insanity in 2006 and ordered to a state mental hospital.
