A North Carolina father was arrested on Wednesday for leaving his three children in an extemely hot vehicle.

WRAL reports Terrance Antonio Ford, 28, of Zebulon, North Carolina, was charged with three counts of child abuse for leaving his children – ages 6, 5 and an infant – in the vehicle. The 2001 Chevrolet minivan wasn’t running as it sat in a Raleigh parking lot.

According to an arrest warrant, the temperature inside the van reached 100 degrees.

Witness Marie Greene told WRAL she called the police after she noticed the three children sitting unattended in the vehicle.

After posting a $2,000 bond, Ford was released from jail. According to police, the children are currently in the custody of a family member.
