‘America’s Got Talent’
Will Chase Goehring receive the golden buzzer in “America’s Got Talent” Season 12 on Tuesday night? NBC

Nine-year-old Angelica Hale received the first golden buzzer from Tuesday night’s first judge cuts round in “America’s Got Talent” Season 12.

This week, another contestant may automatically advance to the live shows after being chosen by DJ Khaled as his golden buzzer recipient. As of late, there are still no sneak-peek videos from NBC, but a trailer for this week’s installment reveals that judge Simon Cowell will be impressed by Chase Goehring. The teenage singer will incorporate a unique twist to the song that he will sing on Tuesday night.

Meanwhile, after receiving Chris Hardwick’s golden buzzer last week, Filipino-American singer Hale explained how happy she was to go straight to the live shows. “My heart was pounding out of my chest when the golden confetti, like, popped, I was like, my heart was stolen out of me,” she said.

Hale also thanked Hardwick for his surprise. “Thank you Chris Hardwick and thank you all. I can’t wait to see you all in the live shows,” she concluded her interview with NBC. For her second performance, Hale performed her own version of Alicia Keys’ hit song, “Girl on Fire.”

In her first audition in June, the 9-year-old told judges Cowell, Heidi Klum, Mel B and Howie Mandel that she wants to become the next Whitney Houston and become a superstar when she grows older. Her version of “Rise Up” shocked everyone because they didn’t expect that such a strong and loud voice could come out of her petite frame.

On the show, Hale’s dad, James, revealed that his daughter performing on stage is a huge miracle. “Five years ago, we never imagined that she would be here today. When Angelica was four-years-old, she started coughing and having fever. We brought her to the emergency room and that’s when we found out that she had double pneumonia and her kidney stopped working,” he said.

Luckily, Hale’s mom was a match so she was able to donate one of her kidneys to her own daughter. Hale considers her mom as her “hero.”

“America’s Got Talent” Season 12 airs Tuesdays at 8 p.m. EDT on NBC.
