After all the collections were shown, “Project Runway” crowned its newest winner from among the final designers in the Season 13 finale Thursday, Oct. 23. Four designers went into the last contest of the hit Lifetime show … but only one came out with the “Project Runway” winner title and the long list of prizes.

Through lots of hard work, sweat and tears, finalists Kini Zamora, Amanda Valentine, Sean Kelly and Charketa “Char” Glover set out to wow the judges during New York Fashion Week, each with a 10-piece collection created on a $9,000 budget. But unfortunately not everyone succeeded.

Kini had a rough start entering Part 2 of the finale. In Part 1 the judges were less than impressed with the three designs he showed, and the 30-year-old from Kapolei, Hawaii, was forced to start from scratch. Amanda was feeling pretty confident after host/judge Heidi Klum praised her looks, but both Sean and Char were on unstable ground after the judges told them to rework their designs.

Fortunately the group was given one last chance to raid NYC fabric emporium Mood with two days left before New York Fashion Week. Each contestant was awarded an extra $300 … but did they use it wisely?

With “Shameless” star Emmy Rossum as a guest judge, the designers showed off 10-piece collections that they'd put together in five weeks. Amanda’s collection was a hit with all the judges, with pieces that incorporated leather, cutouts, tribal prints and some statement jewelry. Char, meanwhile, went with some bold colors and wild prints. Her models wore everything from floor-length dresses to a sweatshirt and a romper. Kini, who had to start from scratch, impressed the dresses with collection. The highlight was a stunning V-cut floor-length gown. And Sean debuted a white, black and orange collection – which included his love for fringe.

Each designer had some flaws. For Amanda, the judges didn’t like the “weird proportions” that some of her designs had. While Char’s pieces included something that every woman would wear, she was criticized for making her collection too simple. Kini was praised for being able to whip up a new collection after the Part 1 finale, but in the end the judges decided that Sean Kelly deserved the title of “Project Runway” winner for having the “freshest perspective” on the runway.

Sean, 25, won not only the title of “Project Runway” Season 13 winner but also the $100,000 check from Red Robin to launch his business. On top of that, the Brooklynite will get a new design studio, a car from Lexus, a spread in Marie Claire magazine and a new home entertainment center. Sean won’t have to worry about expenses at his upcoming runway shows because for the next year Mary Kay will provide makeup, ALDO will provide shoes, and Best Western will set the designer up with travel accommodations around the world.
