‘The Walking Dead’
Will Chandler Riggs and Andrew Lincoln both exit “The Walking Dead” after eight seasons? AMC

Andrew Lincoln may no longer return to “The Walking Dead” Season 9.

Even though nothing has been finalized yet, Lincoln recently expressed his disappointment over the possible departure of his TV son, Chandler Riggs. The 18-year-old actor’s character, Carl Grimes, was bitten by a walker in the midseason finale episode of the hit AMC series.

Those who were bitten by walkers in the previous seasons of “The Walking Dead” either went on to star in “Fear the Walking Dead” or were axed from the show.

While speaking with Comic Book, Lincoln admitted that seeing his co-stars go every season hasn’t always been easy for him. But nothing compared to the possibility of seeing Riggs leave the show.

“This was the hardest… Losing Steven Yeun was… the thought of the journey without Steven in the cast was unbearable but this is… I didn’t see this coming,” he said.

Riggs also heightened speculations that he won’t be the only character to leave “The Walking Dead” at the end of Season 8. While speaking with The Hollywood Reporter, he said that the filming schedule has been tough on Lincoln.

“I haven’t talked to him much about it, but I know that he has a family that he leaves every year to come to Georgia for months and months to film ‘The Walking Dead,’ leaving his kids home in England. I know he’s probably getting pretty tired,” he said.

Prior to Sunday’s episode, Riggs personally asked “The Walking Dead” spoiler site called Spoiling Dead Fans to respectfully not give out details after they’ve watched episode 8.

This tweet from Riggs himself led fans to speculate that his character and Lincoln’s character may be killed off towards the end of the season.

Meanwhile, Riggs’ dad, William Riggs, revealed that AMC fired his son from the show two weeks before his birthday. His Facebook post, which has since been deleted, was captured online by the Independent.

“Watching Gimple fire my son 2 weeks before his 18th birthday after telling him they wanted him for the next 3 years was disappointing. I never trusted Gimple or AMC but Chandler did. I know how much it hurt him,” he wrote.
