Microsoft has released a new beta version toolkit for system upgrading assessment and planning for Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2 migration and virtualization projects.

The new release Microsoft Assessment and Planning (MAP) Toolkit version 4.0 is a help tool to get a quick inventory of a computer then form reports for a user. It is designed to a user to accelerate migration and readiness, the company said.

According to Microsoft, The Microsoft Assessment and Planning Toolkit is a network-wide IT infrastructure discovery, inventory and assessment tool that can help you get a very accurate picture of your IT assets and landscape.

Last February, Microsoft announces the first capability of MAP Toolkit version 3.2 to run on beta version of Windows 7 OS.

Windows 7 will be out on October 22 and it seems the release of the new beta toolkit clears the way of the new OS.
