Channing Tatum may appear as Gambit in "X-Men: Apocalypse," director Bryan Singer hinted in an Instagram post. He shared a photo of himself with the actor and captioned it, "Always wanted to work with this guy! ;) #XMen #Gambit @channingtatum." In the photo, Tatum and Singer can be seen with goofy expressions. They both appear to be dressed casually, and Tatum can be seen making V-sign with his fingers.

Web speculation indicates the 35-year-old actor may have a cameo in the film. His character, Gambit, is a card-throwing mutant. In the comics, he has the ability to manipulate kinetic energy. He uses it to charge cards and other objects, and uses them as a projectile against his enemies. He is a member of X-Men and becomes vulnerable in front of his ladylove, Rogue, with whom he shares stressful relationship.

The official confirmation of Gambit’s appearance in the film is yet to come. The actor previously suggested in a chat with MTV he may share the space with other mutants in the X-Men film.

“I don’t know if I’m at liberty to say, but I think we want to … I don’t think I want to introduce Gambit until you can really explain who Gambit is,” he said. “X-Men: Apocalypse” also stars James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence, Nicholas Hoult, Oscar Isaac, Rose Byrne, Tye Sheridan, Sophie Turner, Alexandra Shipp, Kodi Smit-McPhee, Evan Peters, Lucas Till, Ben Hardy, Lana Condor and Olivia Munn. It centers on Isaac’s character, Apocalypse, who is the first mutant to be born. He will be the main antagonist in the film, and will examine and test the civilization.

The film is being shot in Montreal and will open May 27. Singer is directing the film from a screenplay by Simon Kinberg. John Ottman has supplied the music.
