Xiaomi is rumored to launch two variants of the Xiaomi Mi 5 flagship smartphone on Jan. 21 MyDrivers

The alleged Xiaomi Mi 5 launch date of Jan. 21 is soon approaching. The rumor mill is claiming that two editions of Xiaomi Mi 5 will be unveiled, both featuring in different display resolution, varied RAM and storage sizes.

According to GIz China that cites MyDrivers as its source, one of the Xiaomi Mi 5 variant will feature a full HD resolution display. It will arrive with a 5.2-inch screen and will sport a 2.5D curved glass on the front as well as rear sides.

This edition will be powered by Snapdragon 820 chipset and feature 3 GB of RAM. It is likely to arrive with a native storage of 32 GB, GSM Arena reported.

The other variant will arrive full metal chassis and will support Quad HD resolution on a 5.2-inch display. This Mi 5 model is expected to feature Snapdragon 820 chipset that is supported by 4 GB of RAM. It is expected to feature 64 GB of inbuilt storage.

The rumor mill has been claiming since several months that Xiaomi Mi 5 will arrive in two editions, a regular Xiaomi Mi 5 variant and a premium Xiaomi Mi 5 Plus. As of now, there is no official confirmation whether the model with Quad HD display will be launched as Xiaomi MI 5 Plus.

As far as other specs are concerned, the Xiaomi Mi 5 will arrive with a 16-megapixel camera with OIS feature. The front-facing snapper will be of 13-megapixel. It will also feature a fingering scanner placed under Home button.

It is likely to arrive with Android 6.0 Marshmallow OS that is modified by MIUI 7.0 UI. It will be powered by a 3600 mAh battery. Speculations are rife that both the Xiaomi Mi 5 variants will be announced on Jan. 21. Both the variants are expected to be available on sale from Feb. 8.
