The Xiaomi Mi Band 2 and Samsung Gear Fit 2 wearable devices with health-centric features were unveiled recently. Here is a comparison between the two devices on the basis of their specifications, features, price, and availability.

Specifications and Features

The Xiaomi Mi Band 2 has a 0.42-inch OLED screen and the Samsung Gear Fit 2 has a large-sized AMOLED screen that measures 1.5 inches. The Gear Fit 2’s display is capable of display stats vertically for comfortable viewing. Both the devices feature water-resistant chassis.

The Mi Band 2 can monitor heart rate, steps walked, sleep pattern and it can vibrate when a Bluetooth paired smartphone receives a message, a call or an app notification. It features a physical button to navigate across its different screens.

It is compatible with devices running on iOS 7.0 or above and Android 4.4 KitKat or higher. Its 70mAh battery can deliver a standby time of 20 days.

The Samsung Gear Fit runs on Tizen OS that allows users to customize the watch face with wide range of designs. It has a 1GH dual-core processor and 512MB of RAM along with an inbuilt storage of 4GB. It has a 200mAh battery that can last for up to three days.

The GPS sensor can provide real time information on distance covered along with speed. It also features a heart rate sensor. It can track various kinds of fitness activities such as cycling, running and elliptical.

Price and Availability

Xiaomi Mi Band 2 comes in one size and multiple colors like black, green orange and blue. It is available for purchase starting June 7 with a price tag of $22. There is no word on when it will be made available for purchase outside. However, customers across the world can avail it through third-party retailers from China by bearing higher cost for the device.

The Samsung Gear Fit 2 is available in small (for wrists measuring 125 to 170 mm) and large (for wrists measuring 155 to 210 mm). It is available in colors like black, blue and pink.

It is priced at $179 and is currently available on preorders with free shipping. The official release date of the device is June 10. It will take around 7 to 10 days for preordered units to reach customers.
