The Xiaomi Redmi 3 was announced on Tuesday in China. The budget phone that boasts premium metallic appeal is now available through GearBest with a price tag of $159 for worldwide buyers.

The Xiaomi Redmi 3 has been released to replace the Redmi 2 budget phone from 2014. The Redmi 3 features a unibody metallic chassis that sports gorgeously designed pattern featuring numerous diamonds on the rear side, BGR reported.

It is fitted with a 5-inch display that offers a pixel density of 294 ppi and supports a resolution of 720 x 1280 pixels. The Redmi 3 offers a display-to-body ratio of 71.3 percent.

The Snapdragon 616 SoC is present under the hood of the Redmi 3. It houses a 64-bit octa-core processor that clocks 1.5 GHz along with an Adreno 405 graphics. The SoC is supported by 2 GB of RAM. The inbuilt storage available on the smartphone is 16 GB. The external storage slot supports up to 128 GB of microSD. It comes preinstalled with Android 5.1 Lollipop that is overlaid with MIUI 7.0 UI.

The Redmi 3 features an impressive rear camera of 13-megapixel that is coupled with features like LED flash and PDAF (phase detection autofocus) that can focus on the subject swiftly within 0.1 seconds. For snapping selfies, it is equipped with a 5-megapixel camera.

The dual-SIM supporting Xiaomi Redmi 3 comes with a hybrid slot for SIM cards. One of the SIM slot supports microSIM whereas the other one doubles up for a microSD card and a nano-SIM card. For connectivity, it comes with multiple features such as 4G LTE, 3G, Wi-Fi, USB OTG and aGPS.

One of the USPs of the Xiaomi Redmi 3 is its massive battery of 4100 mAh. Despite packing a huge battery, the Redmi 3 weighs only 144 grams. As far as dimensions are concerned, it measures 139.3 x 69.4 x 8.5 mm.
