You stay classy, San Diego.

Or not.

KSWB Fox5 San Diego sports anchor Ross Shimabuku did not heed the words of Will Ferrell's Anchorman character Ron Burgandy after he effectively called NASCAR driver Danica Patrick a bitch during a live broadcast, leading to his suspension from the air.

The comments led the station to suspend Shimabuku without pay, KSWB tweeted late Tuesday.

The station said Shimabuku apologized for his behavior.

Patrick, who drove in her first NASCAR Sprint Cup race in Monday's Daytona 500, criticized the media for using sexy as the only adjective to describe her during a clip aired on KSWB on Feb. 20.

Is there any other word that you can use to describe me? she asked in the clip.

Patrick is the main celebrity spokeswoman for the web hosting site Go Daddy, in which she appears in many racy television commercials.

KSWB Fox5 San Diego sports anchor Ross Shimabuku then appeared on camera and offered other suggestions.

Oh, I've got a few words. Starts with a b and it's not beautiful, Shimabuku said.
