young and the restless
Devon (Bryton James) plays peacemaker between Mariah (Camryn Grimes) and Tessa (Cait Fairbanks) on the Feb. 1, 2018 episode of "The Young and the Restless." CBS

They are now both employees who work for him, and despite knowing all of the drama that went down between them and forced them to end their friendship, Devon will give Marian and Tessa an ultimatum to bury the hatchet on the Thursday, Feb. 1 episode of "The Young and the Restless.'

Devon (Bryton James) officially now owns Hilary's (Mishael Morgan) show and GC Buzz again, after his former wife agreed to sell it to him on the CBS soap. Though they were in a celebratory mood about the merger, Tessa (Cait Fairbanks), who works for Devon, and Mariah (Camryn Grimes), who works for Hilary, were not.

The two women, who were best friends, had a falling out after sharing a kiss in San Francisco, one which made Mariah realize she had deeper feelings for Tessa. However, the other girl rejected her in favor of her relationship with Noah (Robert Adamson), and things became strained as a result. Then, Tessa stole Mariah's journal and used her entries to help her write a new hit song. Since then, Tessa lost her recording contract, the truth about the kiss came out, and Noah also dumped her. Mariah has also still refused to forgive her, and when the two were told they would have to see each other every day at work, Mariah stormed out.

Now, Devon will trick both women into coming into his office for a new employee orientation, but when they arrive, both will realize they're the only two employees there. Devon will then reveal that he needs them to move past their drama, because he can't have their tension affecting the workplace.

Finally, the two will sit down and hash things out, and Tessa will once again apologize for stealing the words she did from Mariah and exploiting her personal thoughts for her song. Mariah will initially remain hostile, but things will eventually begin to thaw. Though Mariah will make it clear that she can't trust Tessa any longer, the two will decide the best thing to do is to start over—and in order to make Devon happy as well, that is exactly what they will do.

"The Young and the Restless" airs weekdays at 12:30 p.m. EST on CBS.
