“Younger” fans have already taken sides on who they want the show’s lead character Liza (Sutton Foster) to end up with. Some of the have already dubbed themselves members of “Team Josh” (Nico Tortorella) and “Team Charles” (Peter Hermann). Liza’s dilemma on who to pursue a relationship with is fun to watch, but the show’s executive producer Darren Star said the people behind the show did not intend for the characters to be in a love triangle.

Speaking with the Observer, Star said, “We didn’t set it up to have such a distinct triangle, we just wanted to complicate things for Liza, showing conflict with the age and life that she’s chosen and her real age.”

Despite that, Star said he’s very happy that the audience is engaged.

Even though Star does not bank on the idea of a love triangle for Liza, Hilary Duff, who plays Kelsey on the show, is happy about the three-sided romance. Duff has even chosen which side she’s on.

In an interview with E! News, the actress said: “I think I’m pretty much the only cast member that will actually tell someone that I’ve chosen a side. I think I’m Team Josh.”

Duff said she loves Hermann and that she knows his character, Charles, will still play a huge role in the story since he’s Liza and Kelsey’s boss. She said she chose Josh because he seems like the right match for Liza.

“I like that Josh brings out something in Liza that’s been buried for such a long time because she was in a bad marriage,” Duff said. “And he’s actually proving himself to be a really good guy. He’s not just a young, immature flash in the pan.”

Whose team is Liza on, though? Foster has not revealed the answer yet but she did tell PopSugar that fans will find out before the season ends.

“Younger” Season 3 airs Wednesdays, 10 p.m. on TV Land.
