Zara Phillips to Keep Maiden Name, Setting Royal Precedent
Zara Phillips, the Queen's granddaughter, who is marrying rugby star Mike Tindall, will keep her last name in what is believed to be an unprecedented measure among British royals.
The Daily Telegraph reported that she is keeping her name due to her success and fame as a champion equestrian
Moreover, she will be addressed simply as “Miss” and not “Her Royal Highness” – a decision made by her mother, Princess Anne.
Phillips and Tindall married at Canongate Kirk in Edinburgh on Saturday afternoon.
