Zendaya was not nominated for an Emmy Award, but that didn’t stop her from stealing the red carpet at Sunday’s ceremony. The 23-year-old presenter turned heads in a green dress that has fans campaigning for the “Spider-Man: Far From” actress to get a DC Comics role.

The MJ actress wore a custom Vera Wang gown that was the perfect shade of emerald green. The dress had a sexy slit allowing her to show off matching green heels, but it’s the combination of the outfit and the hair that really had fans making Poison Ivy comparisons. Zendaya’s red locks were very curled and styled in a way that was definitely reminiscent of the famous DC Comics villain.

Fans and culture critics immediately took to Twitter to demand Zendaya’s presence in an upcoming DC movie.

Zendaya’s stylist Law Roach confirmed the inspiration. He posted a couple of different pictures of Poison Ivy, both Uma Thurman’s portrayal and a cartoon version, to his Instagram Story in between photos from the Emmy red carpet (which was actually purple).

It seems like Zendaya isn’t the only fashion-forward star who might want to play the famous comic book character. Fans recently thought Rihanna was hinting at scoring the role, but the Fenty Beauty mogul said she just has a passion for the character. However, she wouldn’t mind auditioning.

“You know what, they didn’t call me yet. But if they did, I would love to go in and try out because Poison Ivy is one of my obsessions in life,” she told Entertainment Tonight. “I did it for Halloween one year, I mean come on!”

At the moment, no plans have been announced for Poison Ivy to appear on the big or small screen. However, between the ever-expanding DC Extended Universe movies and The CW’s Arrowverse, it seems like there are plenty of opportunities to let one or both of the stars play the botanist.
