Zimbabwe-focused New Dawn Mining Corp. said Tuesday its third-quarter gold production more than doubled.

In the July-August period, New Dawn produced 8,814 ounces of gold compared to 4,141 ounces in the year-earlier period.

Compared to the previous quarter, New Dawn's gold production jumped 28.8 percent.

The Toronto-based company aims to increase gold production to 60,000 ounces by the end of 2012 and to 100,000 by the end of 2014.
