KEY POINTS

  • iOS 14.4 comes with improvements on customizations
  • The update brings in added security features
  • Apple corrected certain issues from previous updates

It’s just been a few months since Apple released iOS 14, but it seems the tech giant stops at nothing when it comes to innovations. Here, International Business Times lists out the best features of Apple's latest iPhone update -- iOS 14.4 --and the ways in which users can explore the new facets.

Widgets

iOS 14.4 enabled more customization functions to iPhones. Users can now put widgets right on their home screens.

App Library

Along with the update, Apple launched the App Library, a drawer- feature. Here users can save apps that they don’t access and save them for future use.

Deleting of Apps

Once users attempt to delete an app using a long press, they will notice an added option in the list. They will see an option to move the app to the App Library.

Personalized Icons

iOS 14.4 also paved the way for a more personalized iPhone user interface. iPhone holders can now create a personalized app icon to replace the usual icons they have on their devices.

No Need to Install Apps for Use

There is no need to install every app from the Apple Store before using them. The latest Apple update allows users to access apps without installing them.

One example is when ordering food. Instead of heading over to the Apple Store to download the food delivery app, a user may go to Apple Maps and search for the desired food.

Simply tap on the location and click order. The device will no longer prompt the user to install the app like it usually does.

Picture in Picture

The update brings in the Picture in Picture function to the iPhone. Now users can do streaming while doing something else with their device.

While streaming, they simply need to go to the home screen to activate the PiP function. However, it is necessary to view the list of apps that support the feature by heading over to Settings, select General and Picture in Picture.

Camera Security

Apple added additional security features on iPhones with the iOS 14.4 as well. During repair, iPhone 12 series phones automatically notify if it is fitted with a non-genuine or recycled replacement camera.

AirPods Pro Spatial Audio

For Airpods Pro users, iOS 14.4 added the Spatial Audio that allows the audio to automatically adjust to every twist and turn of the user’s head.

Hide Photos for Real

Hidden photos are now truly hidden with the latest iOS update. Simply head over to Settings, click Photos, and toggle the Hidden Album off.

Fake FaceTime Eye Contact

Staring at the screen will make a user look like looking at the camera with the fake FaceTime eye contact. Turn it on by opening Settings, FaceTime and Eye Contact.
