Accuracy and Credibility

IBT's reporting comes only from credible sources and publications with longstanding reputations for reliable journalism, and all information is reviewed by editors before publication. Facts, data, and quotations are checked for clarity and correctness, and stories are updated as new information becomes available. When errors occur, we correct them promptly and note the change clearly within the article. Our reputation depends on our readers' trust, and that trust begins with precision and honesty in everything we publish.

Fairness, Balance, and Impartiality

IBT often cites other reputable publications in our work, but we also strive to produce our own original reporting. Our reporters will always disclose their identity as reporters to subjects being interviewed and obey the applicable laws. We encourage sources to speak on the record, and if they request anonymity, share their identity only with an editor. Reporters will explain journalistic terms—such as "off the record" and "on background"—to sources to ensure clarity and consent. We always preserve quotations accurate and faithful to what was said. We do not manipulate interviews or quotes to fit a narrative. IBT never pays for sources or stories.

Aggregation Standards

When we're not citing sources and documents we have gathered ourselves, IBT will often cite other credible publications reporting, when doing so adds meaningful context, new insight, or factual updates. Aggregated stories cite their sources explicitly and link to the original material. Our editors require that journalists pursue the original source of information whenever possible and confirm details independently. We aim to use multiple reliable sources before publication. Single-source aggregation is permitted only as a last resort.

Editorial Independence and Conflicts of Interest

Our editorial decisions are made without influence from advertisers, sponsors, or external partners. IBT staff may not accept money, gifts, or favors in exchange for coverage, nor may they grant favorable treatment to any individual or organization. Reporters must disclose any relationship or activity that might present a conflict of interest and recuse themselves when necessary. Independence is essential to maintaining integrity, and our newsroom operates free from commercial interference.

Content Syndication

IBT Media operates a network of publications that share resources and content, and may strategically partner with other publishing companies for the same purpose. Syndication allows our stories to reach wider audiences while maintaining consistent editorial standards. Editors decide when and where stories are syndicated; no article may be republished without editorial approval. Exclusive content—such as proprietary interviews or investigations—remains with the publication that created it. Every syndicated story is held to the same standards of accuracy, fairness, and transparency as its original version.

Altered Media Content

Photos, videos, and graphics may never be manipulated to mislead or misrepresent events. Editing is permitted only to enhance technical quality, such as color correction or image clarity. If a photo or video has been altered beyond standard editing, it must be labeled as a composite or illustration. Secretly recorded or illegally obtained material is not used. When reporting on crimes or sensitive topics, we blur the faces of minors and victims unless consent or legal authorization has been granted. Deepfake or synthetic media is published only when it is the subject of the story and is clearly disclosed to readers.

Use of AI

IBT may employ Artificial intelligence tools to assist in research or production but we never replace human editorial oversight. All AI-assisted material is verified and edited by human staff before publication. Any article or video created with AI assistance must disclose this clearly in the byline or at the beginning of an article, using straightforward wording such as "This story includes content written with the help of AI." IBT Media prohibits AI use that fabricates facts, alters context, or impersonates real individuals. Human judgment remains central to every piece of content we publish, as ultimately the accuracy and quality of all our content lies with our editors. We constantly review and will update our methodology for use of AI in line with the ethical standards laid out in this policy.

Corrections and Retractions

IBT Media is accountable to its readers. When factual errors are identified, they are corrected promptly and transparently, with a note explaining the change. As stories evolve, we update them with verified information to ensure accuracy and clarity. Editors oversee all corrections and updates, ensuring they meet the same editorial standards as the original reporting. Retractions are issued publicly when necessary. We view corrections not as admissions of failure but as proof of our ongoing commitment to truth and transparency.
