  • Man Utd and Dortmund agreed to a fee worth $101 million for Sancho
  • Sancho helped Dortmund win DFB Pokal last season
  • He scored 16 goals and 20 assists for Dortmund in 2020-21

Jadon Sancho has reportedly completed his medical at Manchester United and is close to becoming a Red Devil.

Sancho underwent the medical at Manchester United's Carrington training complex Tuesday and was later pictured leaving. The Old Trafford side is expected to formally announce the signing of Sancho from Borussia Dortmund later this week, reported BBC Sport.

It was earlier known that Manchester United and Dortmund had agreed to the fee worth around $101 million. But the deal could not be sealed then because Sancho was on national duty with England at the Euros 2020. The two clubs have now signed and wrapped up all the required paperwork of Sancho’s deal, according to Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, who has a credible record in the European transfer market.

Sancho, along with Marcus Rashford and Bukayo Saka, failed to score from the spot as England lost 3-2 on penalties to Italy in the Euros 2020 final on Sunday. Following the game, the young English trio received a major backlash -- mostly racial abuse.

The 21-year-old winger Sancho, who started his soccer career at Watford, was counted among the promising players at Manchester City’s youth set up along with Phil Foden. While Foden broke into City’s first-team in 2017, Sancho turned down a new deal from the Etihad side and instead chose to join Dortmund. The German club signed the Englishman at $11 million.

It was earlier reported that during the negotiations with the Bundesliga club, the Manchester City board included a clause stating they would receive a 15% share of any future transfer. With Sancho set to make a $101 million move to Old Trafford, City are expected to receive around $13.5 million.

While Sancho had a quiet Euros 2020, he is coming off a great season with Dortmund. The winger netted 16 goals and 20 assists in a total of 38 competitive matches for the German club in the 2020-21 season. He also played a significant part in Dortmund’s successful run in Germany’s domestic tournament DFB Pokal. With six goals in as many matches, he top-scored in the competition, including a brace in the final, which they won by defeating RB Leipzig 4-2. He also provided five assists.
