A Kazakhstani court has jailed 13 people for riots in the remote oil town of Zhanaozen in December last year, which killed at least 15.

The 13 were sentenced to up to seven years in jail for their part in the violence, the worst of its kind in Kazakhstan since the country broke free from the Soviet Union.
