KEY POINTS

  • Brendan Loughnane and Bubba Jenkins face each other for the PFL featherweight championship
  • Loughnane and Jenkins figure in their first PFL championship bouts
  • The winner also takes home a million-dollar prize

The Professional Fighters League (PFL) wraps up what has been a historic season with its culminating event, which will take place at the Hulu Theater of the iconic Madison Square Garden in New York City on Friday, November 25th.

The stacked card will showcase six championship bouts featuring some of the biggest names in mixed martial arts (MMA) today.

The winners of each championship bout will be crowned as the 2022 PFL champions and will take home a whopping $ 1 million grand prize.

Before the stars descend on The Big Apple for "MMA's Richest Night," let's take a look at the six world championship bouts on deck, beginning with the PFL featherweight championship bout.

Serving as the co-main event of the night, this season's clash for the league's 145-pound championship features Brendan Loughnane and Bubba Jenkins—two of the league's best featherweights today.

One of the most tenured names on the PFL's featherweight roster, Loughnane (25-4) is in his third season with the league and is on the verge of his first title reign.

Loughnane made his league debut back in the 2019 season and immediately showed that he was indeed a top-tier contender in the league.

The following season, Loughnane earned a spot in the playoffs but ended up losing to eventual champion Movlid Khaybulaev in the semifinals.

This year, Loughnane once again turned in another perfect regular season run to earn a spot back in the semifinals, this time against bitter rival Chris Wade.

It was Loughnane who got the last laugh, as he outworked Wade to earn a unanimous decision nod and march into the first finals appearance of his PFL career.

Standing opposite Loughnane will be a man who knows a thing or two about winning titles in Jenkins (19-5), a former Brave CF featherweight champion.

Last season, Jenkins made his PFL debut and was immediately seen as a top contender thanks not only to his previous accolades, but also to his performance in the PFL cage.

Jenkins clinched a spot in the postseason in his maiden year with PFL, but he came up short in the semis by falling to Chris Wade.

This year, Jenkins bested Kyle Bochniack and Reynaldo Ekson in the regular season before turning in his best performance in PFL to date in the semifinals, submitting Ryoji Kudo in the first round to book his first title opportunity.

Prediction: Brendan Loughnane def. Bubba Jenkins via unanimous decision

After his solid performances in the regular season and the semifinals, Loughnane could be well on his way to getting his name registered into the PFL history books as the league's third PFL featherweight titleholder.

As impressive as Jenkins has been this season, Loughnane has been on another level as he proved that in his massive win over Chris Wade.

Loughnane likely takes this head-to-head encounter by clear-cut unanimous decision.
