  • Antony wants to reunite with Erik ten Hag
  • The two shared a fine relationship at Ajax
  • Man Utd are yet to submit an official bid for Antony

Ajax forward Antony is reportedly determined to join Manchester United in the ongoing summer window.

While Manchester United have not approached Ajax with an official bid, the Old Trafford club has held informal discussions with Antony, reported Goal.com. The report has further claimed that Antony is keen to reunite with former Ajax boss Erik ten Hag, who is now the head coach of the Premier League side.

It is believed that Ajax are aware of other clubs' interest in three of their players: Brazilian winger Antony, Netherlands defender Jurrien Timer and Argentine defender Lisandro Martinez. The Eredivise champions have labeled the trio with massive price tags to ward off the rival clubs. Ajax are set to demand more than $61 million for 22-year-old Antony, according to Dutch outlet De Telegraaf.

After losing the likes of Jesse Lingard and Edinson Cavani, while Mason Greenwood continues to be unavailable, Ten Hag wants to bolster Manchester United's attack ahead of the 2022-23 season. In what is great news for the Dutch boss, Antony has informed him that he wants to join him in Manchester.

The two shared a fine relationship at Ajax, winning two Eredivisie titles and the Dutch cup. The new Manchester United boss continues to be an admirer of Antony. At a transfer summit in Amsterdam last month, Ten Hag informed the club's football director John Murtough that he wanted the young forward at Old Trafford next season.

Benfica's Darwin Nunez was another target but Manchester United lost the transfer battle to Premier League rivals Liverpool, who went on to sign the Uruguayan forward at a club-record fee of $104 million.

Meanwhile, the Red Devils are after another Netherlands national – Frenkie de Jong, who also played under Ten Hag at Ajax. De Jong is contracted with Barcelona until 2024 but the midfielder has reportedly agreed to move to Manchester this summer.
