An Alabama man shot and killed his live-in girlfriend Friday following a domestic dispute. According to Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office, a 12-year-old was in the home at the time of the incident and was unharmed.

Deputies received a report of a domestic dispute in the 9000 block of Cottage Hill Road in Bay Minette. Upon arrival, deputies found the woman, identified as Candise Marie Kleinatland 35, inside the residence suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Deputies attempted life-saving measures, but she died at the scene. Kleinatland’s live-in boyfriend was taken into custody after admitting to deputies he shot Kleinatland.

The boyfriend has been identified as 39-year-old Elzie Rufus Joiner. He has been charged with murder, discharging of firearm into occupied dwelling or vehicle and reckless endangerment. No bond has been set for him as of Saturday.

A GoFundMe page has been set up to help with the funeral costs of the woman killed in the incident.

In another recent incident, a man in Dayton, Ohio, accused of fatally shooting his ex-girlfriend before their son, was indicted Wednesday (May 20). Police responded to a home in the 3200 block of Hillpoint Lane in Dayton on May 9 after receiving reports of gunshots. The officers found a woman lying in a pool of blood in the driveway of the home. The woman, later identified as 32-year-old Krysten Connally, was declared dead at the scene.

Witnesses and neighbors said that the accused, 33-year-old Gregory E. Blanton, and the victim were arguing before he shot her. They confirmed that the victim was Blanton’s ex-girlfriend.

The prosecutor’s office confirmed that the accused shot Connally five times in her head in front of their four-year-old son.
