  • Sanchez has agreed to take a massive pay cut at Inter
  • The player is set to sign a three-year contract with Inter

Manchester United reportedly are finally getting rid of Alexis Sanchez, who is currently on loan at Inter Milan.

Man Utd and Inter have reached an agreement where the Italian side has agreed to sign Sanchez permanently for free in the ongoing summer transfer window. This transfer is expected to boost Man Utd’s finances as Sanchez earned a whooping weekly wage of $457K.

The Chilean striker, who moved from Arsenal to the Old Trafford during the January transfer window in 2018, still has two years left on his current contract with Man Utd. Selling Sanchez would mean not paying $457,000-a-week to a player, who hardly played in the team or even made a difference.

Sanchez flourished at Barcelona and Arsenal but never managed to replicate that with the Red Devils. He scored three goals in 18 appearances in his first season with Man Utd before he managed just two strikes in 27 games in the following campaign.

Having lost patience with the player, Man Utd boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer loaned him off to Inter Milan ahead of the 2019-20 season. Sanchez began his stint with the Italian side well, scoring once in his first four matches. He suffered a setback when he was ruled out with an ankle injury, which he had sustained while on international duty. With eight assists and four goals so far in the ongoing season, it's fair to say Sanchez has enjoyed his stay at the San Siro side.

According to a report in Italian publication Corriere della Sera, Inter Milan are expected to break the transfer news after their Europa League match against Getafe, which is scheduled to take place on Wednesday, Aug. 5. Initially, Sanchez was asked to return to Old Trafford since Man Utd are also alive in the European tournament. Now that Inter have signed him permanently and if the side faces Man Utd in the Europa final, Man Utd could find Sanchez in the Blue and Black Jersey.

The Corriere della Sera report has also stated that Sanchez has agreed to take a massive pay cut to sign a three-year contract with Inter Milan. The Chilean forward, who earned $21.4 million per season at Man Utd, will now earn $8.2 million per season with the Serie A side.
