  • Isaiah Thomas hints he came close to signing with an NBA team for the 2021-22 season
  • Thomas treats his failed comeback as a chance to spend more time with his family
  • Thomas may end up trying to return to the pro ranks in next year's offseason

Isaiah Thomas tried his best, but his efforts were not good enough for him to fulfill an NBA comeback.

Regardless, it appears the two-time All-Star is not losing any sleep and prefers to follow a different approach to the setback.

Thomas revealed in a video titled “For the Love of the Game” that he "basically" came close to signing with an NBA team.

However, the 32-year-old did not specify which team that was.

The 5-foot-11 guard worked out for three teams such as the Golden State Warriors, Los Angeles Lakers and Dallas Mavericks in the offseason.

Rather than sulk, Thomas--who is best known for playing for the Boston Celtics in the 2016-17 season despite the tragic death of his sister Chyna--opted to treat the entire thing differently.

He takes it as a blessing that allows him to look over his kids as he missed some family time in the past because of his professional career.

“Obviously, I’d rather be playing right now, but it makes me feel that much better knowing I’m not wasting any time in life. I’m able to experience situations with my family that I for the most part missed for 10 straight years being on a roster in the NBA,” the native of Washington said.

Of the three teams where Thomas worked out for, the Lakers and Warriors were reportedly the ones that came close to giving the diminutive guard a roster spot.

For the Lakers, Thomas’ chances went for naught when Rajon Rondo joined the team, SI.com reported.

With the Warriors, Thomas made a good account of himself and appeared to hold good chances of joining the Dubs.

However, that never happened and I.T. ended up trying his luck elsewhere.

After failing to make his NBA return, it remains to be seen if Thomas will try his luck again in the future.
