Amazon is speculated to be working on a 2016 edition of Amazon Kindle Fire HD 8 that was launched last year in September. The specifications and features of the device have reportedly surfaced on GFXBench, a benchmarking site.

The tablet is mentioned as Amazon KFGIWI on the benchmarking site. The device will be packed with an 8-inch display that will produce a resolution of 800 x 1280 pixels.

It will be powered by MediaTekMT8163 chipset that will feature a 1.3 GHz quad-core processor and Mali-T720 MP2 graphics. It will be coupled with 1.5 GB of RAM. It is packed with an internal storage of 8 GB, out of which 4.5 GB will be available for users.

It is packed with a 2-megapixel rear-facing camera. The frontal camera will be of 0.3-megapixel. It will be arriving with Fire OS 5.1 that is based on Android 5.1.1 Lollipop OS.

The Amazon Kindle Fire HD 8 (2016) model seems to feature lower-ends specs compared to the Kindle Fire HD 8 tablet from last year. Hence, the newer model is expected to launch with a cheaper price tag than the $149 pricing of the 2015 model, GSM Arena reported.

The Amazon Kindle Fire HD from 2015 features an 800 x 1280 pixel resolution supporting LCD display of 8 inches. It is powered by MediaTek MT8135 chipset that includes a quad-core processor working at 1.5 GHz along with PowerVR G6200 graphics.

The processor is supported by 1 GB of RAM and it comes in native storage choices of 8 GB and 16 GB. The external storage of the device supports up to 128 GB of microSD card. The rear features a 5-megapixel camera whereas the front has an HD camera for shooting selfies. It is preloaded with Fire OS 5 that is based on Android 5.0 Lollipop.
