Is Amir Khan Next? British Boxer Claims He's Manny Pacquiao's Next Opponent

Amir Khan is known for his colorful character on and off the ring. The British boxer has made outlandish statements before, and he might have said another one today.

According to the former unified light-welterweight champion, Manny Pacquiao has agreed to a deal to fight him in Saudi Arabia. The match is allegedly scheduled in November this year.

Khan recently won the WBC international welterweight title in Jeddah after a fourth-round stoppage against Australian Billy Dib on Friday. The 32-year-old pugilist plans to return to Saudi Arabia to face the Pacman on November 8.

A proposed fight between the two didn’t materialize in 2017, but Khan said that the Filipino boxer had given him his blessing. He told British radio station TalkSport that the bout was “Signed off and done.”

However, Manny seemed surprised when reporters asked him about Khan’s statements. Pacquiao peeped his eyes in shock before shaking his head after hearing the news.

Manny's publicist Fred Sternberg has also denied Khan's assertions. He told World Boxing News that "there's nothing more" to Khan's claims. The Pacman has not "signed a contract to fight" the British boxer in Saudi Arabia.

Manny Pacquiao will have to prove himself once again on Saturday against a younger and bigger champion. Keith Thurman, who holds the WBA (Super) welterweight will aim to end the Filipino boxer's storied career.

Thurman is hyped to face the 8 division champ on 12 rounds of championship boxing at the MGM Grand Arena at Las Vegas, Nevada. The American champion has previously said that he vows to knockout the fighting senator on the canvass.

Talking to the press today, he said that "it's game over, it's game over," while showing the words "game over" on his shirt. It still a mystery if his size will play a role in this match. Manny's not an easy opponent to deal with considering his fantastic footwork and hand speed.

Pacquiao is coming off reverberating victories over Lucas Matthysse and Adrien Broner in his last two fights. The former eight-division world champion has defied father time as he continues to add merits to his stellar career.

Thurman is ten years younger than the 40-year-old politician from the Philipinnes. According to Pacman's camp, he will try to tire his American opponent and will look for an opening to knock him out in the later rounds.
