Android N Developer Preview is already making waves ahead of the official launch scheduled in May at the Google I/O event. Speaking of Android M, while some OEMs and carriers are proactive in rolling out the Android 6.0 update to their handsets, Samsung has been quite slow. Here is the status of firmware updates specific to high-end Galaxy devices.

Galaxy S5

Samsung is apparently rolling out the Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow update for the unlocked variants of Galaxy S5, tied to the model number SM-G900L, under carrier LG Uplus in South Korea.

Apart from the goodness of Marshmallow, this firmware update also brings in bug fixes, stability improvements and performance optimizations, SamMobile noted.

In the U.S., T-Mobile’s Android 6.0 marshmallow update for Galaxy S5 is currently in “Manufacturer Development” phase. Following this, the builds will be tested by T-Mobile and eventually, it will be rolled out. However, there is no word from other carriers on the S5.

Galaxy Note 5

The Marshmallow update for Samsung Galaxy Note 5, tied to the model number SM-N920C, has started rolling out in Cambodia, South Korea and Middle East, among others.

Closer to home, Verizon has already started rolling out the firmware to Galaxy Note 5 users. T-Mobile has reportedly confirmed the Note phablet will receive the software package very soon. AT&T has put the builds through beta testing and it will begin rolling out shortly, GottaBeMobile noted.

Galaxy Note 4, Galaxy Note Edge

T-Mobile has reportedly confirmed the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update for both Samsung Galaxy Note 4 and Galaxy Note Edge. However, the firmware is currently in “Manufacturer Development” phase. This means it will take a couple of weeks before the carrier starts rolling out the update. The expected rollout timeframe is April.

Galaxy S6, S6 Edge, S6 Edge+

The Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow update for Galaxy S6, Galaxy S6 Edge and Galaxy S6 Edge+ has been rolled out in the home country Korea. This was followed by India, the U.K., Austria, Russia, Iraq and the Netherlands. Recently, Croatia, Germany, Czech Republic, Italy, Macedonia and Spain also got the Marshmallow update.

Meanwhile, the U.S. Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge owners started receiving the Android 6.0.1 update via Sprint recently, according to GottaBeMobile. Similar to other updates, T-Mobile has already confirmed that the Galaxy S6 series will be updated to Marshmallow shortly. However, the firmware is currently in “Manufacturer Development” stage. AT&T and Verizon are also expected to roll out the software soon.
