OnePlus has officially confirmed that the Android 6.0 Marshmallow will be made available to its all three smartphones, the OnePlus One, OnePlus 2 and OnePlus X. The update schedule for the OnePlus devices has been declared on its official forums site by the company.

According to the official post from Carl Pei, the co-founder of OnePlus, Cyanogen OS will be releasing its Android M update for OnePlus One owners in the first quarter of 2016. The company has apparently developed an OxygenOS flavored Android M community build for OnePlus One handsets. However, since the OnePlus One handsets are not officially shipped with Oxygen OS, it will be make the community build available for OnePlus One handsets later on.

Owners of OnePlus 2 will be also able to update their handsets to Android 6.0 Marshmallow in Q1 2016. The new standard Android M API for fingerprint scanning will support the fingerprint sensor of the OnePlus 2 handset. Hence, OnePlus will not be developing API for the fingerprint scanning in OxygenOS.

As far as the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update for newly released OnePlus X is concerned, Pei has stated that the company is working hard to roll out the software at the earliest. However, the exact timeframe will be confirmed later on.

Even though Pei has revealed the company’s plans on releasing Android 6.0 Marshmallow update for OnePlus One, OnePlus 2 and OnePlus X, he has refrained from promising any specific dates. OnePlus has currently rolled out the latest OxygenOS 2.1.2 software update for OnePlus 2 and OnePlus X handsets, Android Police reported.

For OnePlus 2, the OxygenOS 2.1.2 brings improved camera UX, performance enhancements, improvements to OTA System Update stability, security patches, fixes for RAW format for photography and more. On OnePlus, the OxygenOS 2.1.2 also brings the aforementioned fixes along with optimized performance when the device is running on low battery.
