Actor Anne Hathaway has lived up to her screen image of a smart, grounded and urbane woman in real life too with wise investments. The artist, who broke into the big league with Disney’s "The Princess Diaries" has amassed a net worth of $ 35 million with some shrewd investments, media reports say.

Hathaway rode the success of “The Princess Diaries” in which she portrayed a clumsy, precocious teen who finds out she is indeed royalty – that grossed $165.3 million and went on to cement her career has so far acted in 37 full-length feature films. She made her mark by pulling off the role of an unflappable personal secretary to a character played by Meryl Streep in "The Devil Wears Prada" while in the superhero movie "The Dark Knight Rises" she easily essayed the role of the Catwoman.

Her movies "Les Misérables," "Becoming Jane" and "Interstellar" that brought her critical acclaim were also noted for strong box office showing. Her 37 movies have so far grossed upwards of $6.8 billion worldwide, a report on the website of Fox Business says. The films of the winner of the Academy Award in 2012 have an average gross of $97.5 million, according to Box Office Mojo.

Even while her film career has been flourishing, Hathaway built up a career as a brand ambassador/endorser. Starting off with Tod's leather goods brand in 2011, Hathaway promotes French premium lifestyle brand Lancôme and Bolon Eyewear.

It is estimated that her Instagram account has been a success as an endorsement platform earning between $27,750 and $46,250 for each paid post.

Hathaway and husband Adam Shulman own a Swiss-style chalet in California. Their Upper West Side, Manhattan, apartment is estimated to be worth $2.55 million.

After her 2001 debut and clocking up an impressive filmography along the way within a comparatively short period, Brand Hathaway has only grown in strength and variety. Some believe the story of the financial rebound of this daughter of a stage performer mother and attorney father is remarkable because of a dark phase in her life when a man she dated turned out to be a con who later served prison.

Her romantic relationship with Italian real estate developer Raffaello Follieri began in 2004 because of her interest in a not-for-profit that he ran to help vaccinate poor children of developing countries. But it turned out to be a bitter one as FBI arrested Follieri in 2008 for fleecing people of millions of dollars posing as Vatican’s real estate agent. Follieri also served a prison term for the offense.
