• Antoine Griezmann's former teammate Thomas Lemar is open to offers from other clubs
  • Lemar was plotted to co-star with Griezmann in Atletico Mardid but struggled to deliver
  • Griezmann reportedly still hasn't served his purpose in Barcelona

One of Antoine Griezmann’s former Atletico Madrid teammates is now “open to all offers” from other clubs.

Last summer, Barcelona made Griezmann their second highest-paid signing of all-time. Barca was urged to make such a massive move after witnessing the Frenchman’s qualities at Atletico Madrid. At the time, Griezmann worked hand-in-hand with his teammate, Thomas Lemar. However, after parting ways with his fellow countryman, Lemar has struggled to find success in Atletico.

A recent report from Téléfoot (via confirmed that Lemar has intentionally placed himself in the transfer window following a criticism-filled season.

"I'm open to all offers. I'm a football player and I like football. I don't close any doors,” Lemar said.

The strong statement from Lemar reportedly triggered transfer rumors as clubs such as Manchester United and Arsenal are said to be already interested in him. However, the report further stated that Atletico Madrid manager Diego Simeone is still reportedly keen on giving Lemar an opportunity to shine again.

Lemar reached his peak last season and moved to Atletico Madrid via a staggering €70 million ($78.2 million) deal from Monaco. He was plotted to co-star with Griezmann in his last season in Atletico but hasn’t really been able to live up to the hype.

With only three goals in two seasons, Lemar has received a lot of criticism for his performance and his lack of adaptation to Simeone's ideas. And for the first time in his career, the French forward has opened up about his situation.

Lemar has received negative feedback throughout the season for his underwhelming performance in the Spanish side. But reports claimed that Simeone has faith in Lemar and has been convincing the club not to put him on sale this summer.

Meanwhile, Griezmann is also dealing with criticism at Barcelona. Since arriving at Camp Nou, the 29-year-old has struggled to serve his primary purpose – to help Luis Suarez and Lionel Messi in attacking. The French attacker hasn’t been consistent after one year with the Catalans, and recent reports claimed that Barcelona’s new signing, Martin Braithwaite, may possibly steal Griezmann’s role in the near future.

Braithwaite impressed the Catalans after a complete performance against Real Mallorca. Griezmann, on the other hand, remains hopeful about his future with Barcelona. He recently said, via the club’s official website, “I want to be an important part of the team, on and off the pitch, enjoy football and help my team-mates win every game.”
