The “Fresh Off the Boat” and “Speechless” families are taking a Friday off.

Although the ABC comedies just started up their new seasons a few weeks ago, they’re taking a short break from premiering new episodes. In their place tonight, which is the 8 p.m. EDT hour block, ABC will help get its viewers in the Halloweekend spirit with an airing of “It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown.”

The cartoon special, which first premiered on CBS on Oct. 27, 1966, centers on the iconic Charlie Brown when he finally gets invited to a Halloween party. All of the fan-favorite characters show up, including Snoopy and Linus. During the broadcast, the bonus video, “You’re Not Elected, Charlie Brown,” will also be shown. As of now, this is the only TV listing of “It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown” set for the next couple of weeks.

Go ahead and enjoy the hour-long program tonight while knowing that your favorite ABC sitcoms will be back before you know it. Both programs will return to the network with new episodes next Friday, Nov. 2.

Season 5 of “Fresh Off the Boat” will continue with episode 4, titled “Driver’s Eddie,” at its usual 8 p.m. EDT time slot. When it airs, fans will get to see what Eddie’s (Hudson Yang) like behind the wheel.

“Louis [Randall Park] makes it his mission to teach Eddie how to be a good driver after a police officer makes an inappropriate Asian driver stereotype comment,” according to the synopsis. “Meanwhile, Evan [Ian Chen] is jealous when he discovers that Grandma [Lucille Soong] has only been inviting Emery [Forrest Wheeler] to hang out with her at her new garage apartment.”

As for “Speechless,” episode 4 of Season 3, titled “N-e— New JJ,” will still air at 8:30 p.m. EDT next Friday. The episode will continue to see Maya (Minnie Driver) and her son JJ’s (Micah Fowler) relationship change as he gets ready to go away for school.

“Seeking a new outlet for her superpowers as JJ prepares for college, Maya sets her sights on a receptive Ray [Mason Cook],” the synopsis shares. “JJ gets involved in a (too) high stakes poker game, while Dylan [Kyla Kenedy] discovers what really happens after her bedtime.”

New episodes of “Fresh Off the Boat” and “Speechless” start up again on ABC on Nov. 2.
