KEY POINTS

  • Manchester United’s young stars have developed well under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer
  • One target for the Red Devils is Lille star, Gabriel Magalhaes
  • Arsenal has also been reported suitors for Gabriel

The current roster of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s Manchester United has been peaking at the perfect time but they’re determined to improve even further. While the club has targeted Gabriel Magalhaes, it has been reported that Arsenal has joined the race for the Lille star.

The rich history of Manchester United has featured several stars carry the banner of the Red Devils to success. Signing someone like Gabriel will be a big boost for the team considering how much the 22-year-old can bring on the field. The Brazilian defender is scouted to have great movement on the pitch coupled with a cerebral approach to the game. In 52 appearances with Lille, he even managed to score twice despite being a defensive specialist.

Throughout his career, he has averaged 1.8 tackles and 1.2 interceptions a game. One of his key strengths is staying aggressive for his team as he’s putting up 3.2 aerial duels won per game. To add to this, he’s tallying 3.3 clearances a night coupled with his tendencies to slide for tackles as the center-back.

Signing Gabriel would be ideal for Manchester United but it would also be a perfect fit for Arsenal as well per Fansided’s Red Devil Armada. With The Gunners’ recent offer to Willian for a three-year deal, adding a capable defender to that lineup would fortify their roster even further. With Sven Botman suiting up for Lille, Gabriel is more likely to leave the team making way for Arsenal to emerge as a suitor, per France Bleu Nord.

If the Willian deal pushes through for Arsenal and they’re able to sign Gabriel, it will only further improve their lineup care of a great balance of offense and defense. For Manchester United, it will be a great opportunity for Gabriel to develop under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s system as a young talent. Several players have stepped up for the Old Trafford-based squad with Mason Greenwood blossoming as a star for their club.

With the way Manchester United has been playing, the team has been rejuvenated with a fresh sense of energy. Their leader Paul Pogba has been playing well with Portuguese superstar Bruno Fernandes.

Whether Gabriel ends up in Arsenal or Manchester United, both clubs would benefit greatly with the intensity he brings to the field.
