The future of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has yet to be known though critics feel that the Gabonese is more likely to stay with Arsenal F.C. So far, all have been mum although the 31-year-old has sent off some feelers of things to come on social media.

Aubameyang has one year left in his deal with the Gunners but has been pursued by several clubs. However, a recent tweet and an Instagram video points at the Gabon captain most likely staying at Emirates Stadium.

On Twitter, Aubameyang posted an image of an hourglass without elaborating. The hourglass had several dots before it, leading most to speculate that it may only be a matter of time before an official announcement will be made. Some even believe that a deal has already been signed ahead of the Gunners 2020-21 campaign.

Aside from that, Aubameyang's father also put up a video on Instagram showing him and his son out for a drive. The younger Aubameyang was seen sporting an Arsenal shirt, further raising speculations that he may have signed a new deal and will stay on with the Gunners.

The Gunners could have avoided the suspense had they sealed a contract extension earlier this year. Talks were underway but the COVID-19 pandemic complicated matters. Mikel Arteta scolded Arsenal management for taking so long but was eventually ready to pitch an offer which was what Aubameyang wanted.

However, FC Barcelona entered the picture with Barca looking at Aubameyang as a possible alternative to the original target, Lautaro Martinez. Blaugrana is on a tight budget and is having difficulty meeting the $115 million fee Inter Milan is asking for the Argentine striker. Another club that expressed interest in the Gabonese was Juventus although there has been little to no updates.

The word going around is that Arsenal is expected to raise the $262,000 per-week deal that the Gabon captain signed in 2018. Considering the showing that Aubameyang has shown this season, there is no denying that he deserves a pay raise.
