Nick Viall recently got candid about his feelings over being single.

The "Bachelor" Season 21 star is single again after he split from his ex-fiancée, Vanessa Grimaldi. The reality star recently opened up about his life after the breakup and revealed that he doesn't like being alone.

"I don't know if I felt like it needed to happen. But, you know, it kind of is what it is," Viall told Ben Higgins and Ashley Iaconetti during an interview with "Almost Famous" podcast (via Us Weekly). "It's never fun, right? I don't know. Being single kind of sucks. But what can you do? I've always been the eternal optimist of pushing forward, so yeah. I'm fine."

Viall and Grimaldi got engaged on the finale of "The Bachelor" Season 21. However, their relationship did not last long as the couple split in August.

"It's with a great amount of heartbreak for the both of us as we have decided to end our engagement," the exes announced in a joint statement. "We gave this relationship our all and we are saddened that we did not get the fairytale ending we hoped for. We will continue to be there for each other no matter what. This hasn't been an easy decision, however, as we part ways, we do so with lots of love and admiration for each other."

However, many of their friends were not surprised with them breaking up. In fact, Grimaldi's friends reportedly knew that their relationship was doomed and that the reality stars would eventually split because they were a "mismatch from the start."

A source said that Grimaldi is very lively, funny and outgoing, while Viall is her complete opposite. The "Bachelor" winner tried to help him to get out of his comfort zone, but he is just not comfortable in big groups.

Before Grimaldi and Viall announced that they were parting ways, the ex-couple had already been plagued with split rumors. In June, the pair attended Evan Bass and Carly Waddell's wedding. However, on their flight back to Los Angeles, an eyewitness claimed that things seemed to be awkward between the duo. Grimaldi and Viall apparently didn't talk to each other, and he left her at the airport after their plane landed.
