  • Bayern have already rejected two Barca bids for the Polish forward

FC Barcelona are reportedly preparing a new massive offer for Bayern Munich forward Robert Lewandowski.

The new offer could be for around $52 million, according to German outlet BILD. However, it depends on the club board members' votes on whether they should go ahead with the massive offer, considering the Catalans' ongoing financial crisis.

Lewandowski is contracted with Bayern Munich until 2023 but he has informed the Allianz Arena side that he wants to leave this summer.

Bayern Munich recently rejected Barcelona's second offer for the Poland national. The Catalans had offered around $34 million plus $5 million in add-ons but Bayern Munich made it clear that they need $42 million upfront for Lewandowski, reported The Sport. The Bundesliga champions want fluid funds to sign Sadio Mane from Liverpool FC.

Meanwhile, Barcelona have also lashed back at La Liga president Javier Tebas, who insisted publicly that the Camp Nou side cannot afford Lewandowski.

"We were also meeting with the board of directors when these statements were released. We found out from the reaction of the player's representatives who were logically alarmed and contacted us. We had no choice but to react. There was a concern because, logically, if the establishment that has to decide something about a player's participation in the league says something like this, it is really worrying. We see it as interference," said Barcelona vice president Eduard Romeu, according to 90Min.

"In the end, we understand that La Liga is there to defend the interests of the different clubs, including Barça. We're not asking for preferential treatment, anything different from anyone. We are simply asking for equal conditions, nothing more," he added.

Barcelona midfielder Frenkie de Jong could leave the club this summer. Head coach Xavi Hernandez will reportedly part ways with the Dutchman only if the Catalans sign either Lewandowski or Manchester City's Bernardo Silva.

Lewandowski had a brilliant 2021-22 season at Bayern Munich as he finished the term with 50 goals and seven assists in 46 competitive appearances.
