  • Barcelona is set to re-sign Ousmane Dembele and Ilaix Moriba
  • Dembele has earned Barca's trust after having a resurgent 2020-21 season
  • Moriba is likely to be offered an improved salary following an impressive season

Barcelona is looking to secure a deal for two of the club’s top performers in the past season.

The negotiations in Barcelona’s roster revamping appear to be progressing fast.

In the coming days, the Catalans are expected to discuss the contract extensions of Ousmane Dembele and Ilaix Moriba, Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo reported.

Barca executives are planning to meet with the pair’s agents “next week” to address the futures of both players.

Dembele’s current contract with Barcelona will expire next year, but the club is keen on keeping the forward “because they trust in his quality,” the report said.

As for Moriba, Barcelona is willing to offer a new set of deals that includes an improved salary, targeted to last until 2026.

However, the said offer “will be staggered” but will also include various bonuses, the report added.

Dembele is one of Barcelona’s most expensive signing of all time, but injuries have halted his fine form.

This past season, the World Cup winner was able to regain his groove and became a favorite of Barca boss Ronald Koeman.

"Physically, Ousmane Dembele has improved a lot and I have no doubt about his quality as a player,” Koeman said in a press conference earlier this year. “I don't know how he was in the past. [But] He's great, good one against one, and adds a lot of depth to our game.”

“I love this player, and now he's very happy, which is very nice,” he continued.

Moriba, on the other hand, is still tied up with Barca until 2022. However, an earlier report stated that the La Liga giants are hoping to prolong the youngster’s stay at Camp Nou by offering him a fresh set of terms.

Fortunately for Barcelona, Moriba feels the same way about it as he wants to spend the rest of his career with the Catalans.

“I am living a dream and I hope it never ends,” Moriba said after Barcelona’s win over Getafe in April. “We depend on us and we have to go to all the games the same way.”

“There are good vibes in the [Barcelona] dressing room, that is reflected in the results you are seeing,” he continued.

In his maiden senior season with Barcelona, Moriba impressed under Koeman and became one of Lionel Messi’s newest co-star.

His overall attacking attributes have had the media raving and hailing him as the “New Paul Pogba.”
