  • Griezmann's former advisor Eric Olhats talks about Messi's influence in Barcelona
  • Olhats accuses Messi of not wanting Griezmann in Barca since the beginning
  • Messi's relationship with coaches has become a hot subject lately

Antoine Griezmann’s former advisor Eric Olhats had a ton of negative things to say about Lionel Messi and the Frenchman’s relationship with the Barcelona captain.

Barcelona made Griezmann the fourth most expensive signing of all time in the summer of 2019. However, the former Atletico Madrid star seemed to have not lived up to the hype even to this day and has been considered as one of the on-and-off players in the squad.

There are many factors to consider in Griezmann’s inconsistent form. However, his former advisor, Olhats, came up with a shocking accusation that the Barca superstar may have contributed to his ex-client’s decline.

According to Olhats, Griezmann has insisted that he and Messi get along well. But he knew that the Argentine has never liked the youngster since day one.

He even suggested that Messi is somewhat of a diva in Barcelona and is using his influence to manipulate the entire club.

“Antoine arrived in a struggling club where Messi has a view on everything,” Olhats recently told France Football. “He’s at the same time emperor and monarch, and he didn’t see Antoine’s arrival with a good eye. His attitude has been deplorable, he made him feel that. I’ve always heard Antoine say there’s no problem with Messi, but never the other way around.”

“In my eyes, Messi said he wanted to leave to see what role he still had as a decision-making player, regarding the players who arrived and those who left, but he eventually stayed. Classic Messi!,” he added. “As good (as he is) on the pitch, he is bad off it. Barcelona has been suffering for a while. There was a cancer in that club, and it obviously leaves some marks.”

Messi’s professionalism has become a hot subject after sacked Barcelona coach Quique Setien claimed he was “difficult to manage." Current Barca manager Ronald Koeman immediately disagreed and in a recent interview with Sport, he addressed Messi’s case once again.

The six-time Ballon d'Or winner had been vocal about his issues with Barcelona. However, Koeman revealed that since being appointed as the club’s new coach, he already told “Leo” that he can’t do anything about it.

"When I arrived, they told me Messi was unhappy," the manager said. "We spoke at his house. He explained his reasons and I was honest. I told him that the only things I could change were football things: the system of play, his position on the pitch, his importance in the team. But the issues he had with the club, I could not change them.”

"Messi demonstrated to me that he's a person that wants to win things, be the best and continue being the best, even though he's had his problems with the club," he continued.
