Although they may not be the best source of information, the toy lines that spawn from popular movies like “Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice” can sometimes give away hints at what fans can expect from the movie when it finally hits theaters. Most recently, images of a line of Mattel figurines leaked online showing a very different look at the upcoming film’s villain, Lex Luthor (Jesse Eisenberg).

According to some images secured by Idle Hands, a pop culture news blog that specializes in toy collectibles, Mattel is planning to release a line of toys featuring three figurines. The first is Batman (Ben Affleck) in his armored batsuit, the second is Superman (Henry Cavill) in his regular costume and the third, and definitely the most intriguing, is Lex Luthor in his mechanical “warsuit” from the comic books. Although the film version of Luthor has been teased as a rather small business mogul and playboy, it seems that the character may end up being every bit as diabolical and good at planning ahead as his comic book counterpart. The outlet notes that the figurine shares the same green and purple color scheme that the warsuit has in other media, and it is outfitted with an unmistakable “LexCorp” logo on the front chest piece.

It’s unclear if the mechanical suit is just a fun toy designed to give kids a mutual villain for the heroes to battle, or if the movie will include Eisenberg’s character donning the armor for a super-powered fist fight. While, it would certainly be logical to give the villain of the movie a way to actually combat the heroes in battle, Luthor isn’t necessarily the principal villain of the movie. With Batman, Superman, Luthor, Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot), Aquaman (Jason Mamoa) and the villain Doomsday already confirmed to make an appearance in the new film, it’s already pretty weighed down with big-name characters and potential fight sequences. However, with Luthor coming into the fold, the action movie may require that the character do more than scheme in the background.

Previously, JoBlo reported that a highly credible source informed its reporters that there is a battle sequence planned for the movie that will include the warsuit. However, this came out several months ago before the introduction of Doomsday in the most recent trailer for the film. Unfortunately, given the limited information that’s been released about the upcoming Zack Snyder film, only time will tell what’s in store for fans of the DC Comics world when “Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice” hits theaters on March 25, 2016.
