Indian actor Akshay Kumar, who tested positive for COVID-19 on Sunday, has been hospitalized under medical advice.

Kumar had posted a message on Instagram, saying he had isolated himself: "I wish to inform everyone that, earlier this morning, I have tested positive for COVID-19. Following all the protocols, I have immediately isolated myself," he wrote. "I'm under home quarantine and have sought necessary medical care."

"I would sincerely request all those that have come in contact with me to get themselves tested and take care," he concluded.

Following the post, the 53-year-old actor's post was crowded with prayers and best wishes.

On Monday, Kumar acknowledged all the wishes and shared another message across social media.

"Thank you everyone for all your warm wishes and prayers, they seem to be working," he wrote. "I am doing fine but as a precautionary measure under medical advice, I have been hospitalized. I hope to be back home soon, take care."

Apoorva Mehta, CEO & Producer of Dharma Production, one of the biggest production and distribution companies in the country, tweeted, "You're a true fighter, you'll bounce back stronger in no time! Wishing you good health and a speedy recovery."

Indian singer Sukhbir Singh also tweeted:

Kumar is not the only Bollywood actor who contracted the virus. Previously, other Bollywood actors such as Govinda, Paresh Rawal, Milind Soman, Fatima Sana Shaikh and Alia Bhatt have tested positive for COVID-19.

Meanwhile, Bollywood actors such as Malaika Arora, Sanjay Dutt, Salman Khan and Amitabh Bachchan were among those who took the COVID-19 vaccination.

On the work front, Kumar has a bunch of upcoming movies including "Raksha Bandhan," directed by Aanand L. Rai. Oscar-winning musician A. R. Rahman will compose songs for this highly anticipated movie.

Kumar's other project, "Bachchan Pandey," starring actresses Kriti Sanon and Jacqueline Fernandez, is slated to release next year. The movie is directed by Farhad Samji under Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment production house.

Last month, the actor announced his upcoming action-drama movie "Sooryavanshi" will be released on April 30.

"Sooryavanshi: Because A Promise Is A Promise. We promised you all a cinematic experience and that’s what you will get...the wait is finally over!" he captioned. "Aa Rahi Hai Police [The police are coming] #Sooryavanshi releasing worldwide in cinemas on 30th April 2021. #Sooryavanshi30thApril."
